MBKM Program

The rapid development of science and technology, coupled with changes in government policies aimed at improving the quality of human resources in Indonesia, such as the issuance of Law No. 12 of 2012 on higher education, Presidential Regulation No. 8 of 2012 on the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI), the introduction of the 2013 and 2019 curricula, and Minister of Education and Culture Regulation No. 49 of 2014, necessitate various adjustments to the curriculum of Teacher Training and Education Institutions (LPTK). The government places great expectations on LPTK to enhance the quality of educational personnel in the country.

The implementation of Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) aims to expedite the transformation of Indonesian higher education institutions, turning them into globally competitive universities. The objective is to make these institutions more independent, robust, and distinguished in the areas of education, research, and community service, aligning with their distinct mission differentiations.

The MBKM policy, established by the Minister of Education and Culture, aims to encourage students to master various disciplines in preparation for entering the workforce. The implementation of the MBKM program at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) of the Universitas Islam Riau (UIR) provides students with opportunities to choose learning activities beyond their study programs.

These activities will receive a maximum equivalent or conversion of 20 (twenty) credits per activity per semester. This option aims to encourage students to develop independence in seeking and acquiring knowledge through real-life experiences and field dynamics.
