Student Achievements

During their time on campus, a student should maximize their role in intracurricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities to learn and enhance their abilities. This enables them to become individuals who are faithful, pious, and virtuous, as well as healthy, knowledgeable, skilled, creative, independent, competent, and cultured. This approach aims to produce graduates who master branches of science and technology, capable of competitiveness in their post-campus endeavors.

One of the indicators of success as a student on campus is the number of achievements attained, whether in alignment with academic disciplines, hobbies, or extracurricular activities.

There are three main types of achievements

that students should pursue on campus, in accordance with the categorization outlined in the 2018 guideline for selecting outstanding students by the Directorate General of Learning and Student Affairs at the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education.

A. Achievement Accomplishments

The definition of achievement accomplishment is the student's success in one or several specific academic fields obtained through competitive mechanisms organized by institutions or associations at the international, regional, national, or provincial levels. Simply put, achievement accomplishment is an accolade acquired through competitive mechanisms, with the output being a ranking resulting from the outcomes of the competition.

B. Recognition/Award Achievements

Recognition or award achievement is the acknowledgment or award given by institutions or associations at the international, regional, national, or provincial levels for a student's accomplishments in one or several specific academic fields. This recognition is bestowed in appreciation of the student's contributions or efforts in the development of science and technology (Iptek) or for providing benefits to society. Simply put, recognition or award achievements are not measured by ranking outputs but are gauged by the satisfaction and utility they provide, leading to acknowledgment by various parties.

Some examples that can be categorized as recognition or award achievements include serving as a representative or delegate of the university/Indonesia in national, regional, and international forums. Other examples of recognition or award achievements include a student's success in advancing rural areas through village grant programs, village mentoring programs, community empowerment initiatives, and so forth. Through these activities, the presence of students in the community is acknowledged, providing positive impacts.

C. Leadership Achievements

Becoming a leader is also an achievement that students should strive for during their time on campus. The ability to lead is not easily acquired; it involves a lengthy process, and being appointed as a leader is a testament to that. Hence, being a leader is an accomplishment. In student organizations like HIMA, UKM, and BEM, no matter how many members there are, the president is usually only one person. Similarly, other strategic positions are typically led by one person. This signifies that being a leader is a special role acknowledged by peers for someone to lead.
