History
It started in early 2015 when a Fresh Graduate from UGM (Muhammad Arsy Ash Shiddiqy) applied to become a Lecturer at FISIPOL UIR. Initially, he was willing to teach in any study program to serve UIR, but after seeing that the scientific base of the person concerned was International Relations and at that time FISIPOL UIR did not have a HI study program, an initiative arose from Vice Rector 1 (Dr. Nurman, M. Si) to open a new study program, namely International Relations. After it was decided through the University senate meeting to open a new study program, namely HI, the team began working to prepare a proposal to open a new study program at UIR. After working for about 6 months, at the end of 2015, a proposal was submitted to the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education through Kopertis Region X at that time. Having experienced two rejections due to the moratorium on the opening of new study programs and some data gaps in the proposal, finally, in September 2017 UIR received the Operational License Decree for the New International Relations Study Program.
International Relations Study Program as one of the study programs in the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of Riau Islamic University is currently continuing to improve itself. This is done to respond to changes in various aspects of international politics, especially in the implementation of increasingly complex relations between countries. The International Relations Study Program received permission from the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education on September 19, 2017 with Operational Permit Number: 526/KPT/I/2017. This study program has Good Accreditation.
